This beautiful oak was harvested from an Irish peat bog, where it sank millenia ago. The oxygen-free environment of the bog prevents decomposition and can preserve organic material for thousands of years. Years of soaking in minerals and organic compunds result in the smooth, jet black color. Our bog oak is estimated to be between three and eight thousand years old- these wands may actually have been living trees during the construction of Stonehenge and the other neolithic monuments of Celtic Britan. This is a most highly sought after wood for those with Celtic heritage or who follow a druidic path. Below are a few examples of our work in bog oak.
Athames
This athame features a handle of imported English yew and Irish bog oak, paired with an enameled steel blade. Finished with Haunted Wood Oil.
