The besom is an interesting tool in that it contains both male (the shaft) and female (the brush) aspects. More than just for simple housekkeping, the besom is used to sweep away negative energy, or as a protective talisman placed near a doorway. It has even been known to find it's way into a wedding, where the bride and groom jump over it to insure fertility.

Our standard besom is approximately 30", and handmade from native New England hardwood. The brush is made from pine or grasses, and is trimmed with handsomely laced leather.
